Robert Moreno

President & Chief Safety Officer

ZDM Fire and Safety LLC

Safety. Security. Leadership. Experience where it matters.

Robert Moreno is President and Chief Safety Officer of ZDM Fire and Safety LLC, bringing together extensive experience in occupational safety, operational risk, emergency preparedness, fire prevention, construction safety, and physical security.

A United States Marine Corps veteran and former Marine Security Guard, Robert's professional background has taken him from high-threat international security environments to complex commercial construction sites and industrial operations. That combination gives him a perspective that extends well beyond conventional safety consulting.

He understands that protecting an organization requires looking at the entire environment: people, facilities, operations, hazards, security vulnerabilities, emergency procedures, leadership, and organizational culture.

FROM EMBASSY SECURITY TO ORGANIZATIONAL SAFETY

Robert served in the United States Marine Corps as a Marine Security Guard, protecting U.S. diplomatic facilities, personnel, classified materials, and infrastructure.

His assignments included the U.S. Embassies in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and Beirut, Lebanon, where he operated in high-threat environments and maintained a Top Secret security clearance. His responsibilities included physical security, access control, emergency action procedures, and threat response.

That experience helped establish principles that continue to influence his approach today: preparation matters, procedures must work under pressure, vulnerabilities should be identified before they are exploited, and protecting people must remain the priority.

BUILDING A CULTURE OF SAFETY

Since 2005, Robert has led ZDM Fire and Safety LLC, providing safety management and consulting services for commercial, industrial, and government environments.

His work has included construction safety management, hazard analysis, OSHA compliance support, accident investigation, emergency planning, workforce training, corrective-action development, and site-specific safety programs. He has also provided direct field oversight during complex construction projects, including major structural erection and large-scale glazing operations.

Robert's approach is built around more than identifying violations or completing checklists. He works to help organizations develop a culture of safety, where leadership, employees, policies, training, and operational practices work together to reduce risk.

SAFETY AND SECURITY ARE CONNECTED

Today's organizations face risks that cannot always be placed neatly into separate categories.

A workplace emergency may involve safety, security, fire protection, communications, emergency management, physical infrastructure, human behavior, and leadership decisions simultaneously.

Robert brings these disciplines together.

As ZDM expands its safety and security consulting capabilities, his combination of military security experience, occupational safety expertise, emergency preparedness knowledge, and hands-on operational leadership provides clients with a practical perspective on protecting both people and operations.

PROFESSIONAL SAFETY CREDENTIALS

Robert completed 132 hours of professional safety training through OSHA Academy, earning the Occupational Safety and Health Professional credential.

His additional OSHA Academy credentials include:

  • Occupational Safety and Health Manager

  • Occupational Safety and Health Specialist

  • Occupational Safety and Health Supervisor

  • Occupational Safety and Health Trainer (Train-the-Trainer)

  • Safety and Health Committee/Team Leader

  • Safety and Health Committee/Team Member

His areas of professional experience include construction safety management, hazard analysis and control, accident investigation, OSHA regulatory compliance, fall protection, lockout/tagout, confined-space safety, electrical safety, industrial hygiene, emergency action planning, fire prevention, PPE programs, workforce training, and safety-culture development.

EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD

Robert has provided hands-on safety oversight for complex commercial construction projects in Texas and Arizona, including work involving structural erection and the installation of nearly seven acres of roof glazing.

His responsibilities have included fall protection, rigging safety, elevated-work procedures, hazard recognition, PPE compliance, daily safety briefings, field-team coaching, and direct engagement with workers and project leadership.

That field experience remains central to his philosophy.

Safety and security recommendations have to work in the real world, with real people, under real operating conditions.

LEADERSHIP WITH A PURPOSE

Robert believes organizations should not have to wait for an accident, security incident, regulatory problem, or emergency to discover where their vulnerabilities exist.

Through ZDM Fire and Safety LLC, he works with clients to identify those vulnerabilities earlier, strengthen preparedness, improve safety and security practices, and develop practical solutions appropriate for the organization and its people.

His mission is straightforward:

Protect people. Strengthen operations. Prepare for what comes next.
